The Magical Tree

As I went for a walk, my head was filled with my usual critical thoughts. I’m not as good as some standard, I’m not capable, and the list goes on always adding up to feeling less than. Today as I walked the path I’ve taken so many times, I found myself drawn to a tree.

It was a wondrous and magical tree. How had I never noticed this tree until now? It seemed to be calling to me with its beauty, stature, and maze of interesting branches. It was surrounded by a forest of young, straight, stick-thin trees and I thought, that’s what I want to be, wondrous and magical.

Maybe this tree is reflecting my own magic and wonder. I smiled for a moment feeling hopeful that I might be like this magical tree. And then I realized too, in this world of duality with good and bad, big and small, etc., I was judging all of those young, straight, stick-thin trees as less than. I reminded myself not to judge these young, straight and stick-thin trees. They are growing and I am them too. We are all magnificently magical and continually growing.
